A Zip 250 drive can read and write both Zip 250 and Zip 100 disks, but erasing/reformatting a Zip 100 disk in a Zip 250 drive with the IomegaWare software takes a long time. Iomega had a tech support article about this some years ago. Then restart the computer, if this issue persists, the user should replace the Iomega driver extension by either dragging this extension file from the Restore CD-ROM disc that came with the Macintosh computer, or reinstalling the Mac OS. There may be a SCSI conflict which is effecting the ZIP drive from working properly.

The 1st download is a Disk Copy 4.2 image of the installer floppy disk. The installer requires the Zip Tools disk to work. If anyone has a physical copy of the Zip Tools Version 4.2 disk (including all the extras), please make an image and upload it here so that we have a historically correct set (for Macintosh at least).

Version 4.2 can be used to run a Zip drive on a MacPlus: a simple web search will give you information on how to do this.
EDIT: Nothwistanding the above, the floppy install disk contains the Iomega Driver and Iomega Guest which are actually sufficient to use the Zip Drive.
